Gravel Nets Third Williams Grove Summer Nationals Title For 20K

Mechanicsburg – Defending World of Outlaws champion David Gravel recorded the third Williams Grove Speedway C & D Rigging Summer Nationals Finale title of his career on Saturday night, scoring $20,000 for a flag to flag performance in the 24th running of the affair.

For Gravel, the victory was his 10th of the season on the World of Outlaws tour and the 11th overall of his career at Williams Grove Speedway.

Gravel drew the pole for the dash and then drove to victory in it to set himself on the pole for the 30-lap Summer Nationals main event.

He was leading over second starter Dylan Norris on the fourth lap when his pace was halted for a medical emergency in the pit area.

The restart saw Gravel jet away as fourth starter Logan Schuchart began challenging Norris for second.

Schuchart first went in front of Norris with a first and scond turns move on the seventh lap only to see Norris battle back into the spot.

Norris would continue holding the runner-up position but trailing by 3.127 seconds as the leader entered the rear of the field at the halfway mark.

Shortly thereafter Schuchart again began challenging Norris for second and would finally make good on a move with 10 laps to go.

With nine to go disaster nearly struck the leader when the machines of Brent Shearer and Cole Macedo tangled as they raced off of the fourth corner.

When Macedo turned sideways Gravel came upon the scene and just barely scraped by the cars after evasive action as the caution flag came out.

Gravel had Schuchart on this tail for the new green while Logan Rumsey went outside of Norris for third.

At first Schuchart trailed by more than 1.5 seconds but with under five laps to go he began biting into Gravel’s advantage and with two to go he chopped five-tenths of a second off of his lead.

That kept things interesting all the way to the finish as Schuchart continued to gain ground on Gravel by blasting the top going into the first corner before dropping off of the cushion in the middle of the turns with a run that allowed him to continue to close in.

The Hanover pilot took a last ditch outside swipe at Gravel for the win in the final set of turns but the Connecticut driver held on for the victory by .688 seconds.

Rumsey finished an impressive third as the highest finishing Pennsylvania Posse driver.

Norris and Sheldon Haudenschild completed the top five finishers.

Sixth through 10th went to Danny Dietrich, Justin Whittall, Daryn Pittman, Brent Marks and Anthony Macri.

Heats were taken by Rumsey, Pittman, Gravel and Whittall.

Brent Shearer won the B Main.

Rumsey set fast time with a lap of 16.927 seconds.

The Summer Nationals Finale victory was the second in a row for David Gravel at Williams Grove Speedway as he took the most recent event checkers in 2024.

The race was lost to weather in 2025.

His first event win was in 2020.
