Hammaker Earns 2nd Career Victory in 410 Sprint Car Competition, Spicer Dominates in 305s, Zook Wins in Limited Late Model Crazy Finish

Port Royal, PA -- It took just shy of one month for Doug Hammaker to double his career 410 sprint car victories at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night. Hammaker started the 2026 sprint car season in search of his first win. On June 13th he earned his first and on July 11th he earned his second with both happening at The Speed Palace.

Nash Ely and Devin Adams composed the front row of the 25-lap A-main event with Ely taking the early advantage after multiple attempts at the initial start.

Hammaker, who started in the 6th position, would dispatch of three cars on the opening lap to move into a top 3 position with Adams still holding the runner-up spot.

It would take 5 more laps before Hammaker would make the move on Adams to get by for the runner-up position and set his sights on the leading Ely.

With 16 laps remaining, the battle for the lead would begin between Ely and Hammaker with Ely getting out of the grove in turn 2 and losing a lot of ground between Hammaker and himself.

Hammaker wouldn't be able to make the pass on Ely's mistake but would follow Ely closely over the next 11 laps before the caution flag would wave for the final time.

On the restart, Ely would hang on to the lead but Hammaker would stay close behind him and attempt a sliding pass in turns 3 and 4.

Ely would be able to come up with a response and take the lead back down the front straightaway but Hammaker would make the same move in turns 1 and 2, taking the lead for good and holding on over the final 4 laps.

Ely would finish in the runner-up spot, a career best finish at The Speed Palace for Ely, and Logan Wagner would round out the podium.

Austin Bishop would win both the Ramsey's Car Wash Hard Charger as well as the J&S Classics Warrior Award earning him an extra $1,500 on the night.

In Penns Valley Meat Market 305 sprint car competition, Josh Spicer would put on a dominating performance across the night earning his 2nd career Port Royal Speedway victory.

Spicer, who started in the 8th position, would quickly get to third in the opening two laps before a caution for Timmy Bitner reset the field.

Dylan Shatzer would be the race leader over the opening 5 laps before Spicer would work around the outside of him in turns 3 and 4, taking the lead and not looking back.

Kolby Weaver would work his way up from his 6th starting spot to claim the runner up finish and Shatzer would round out the top 3 finishers.

For the River Rock Campground & RV Park limited late models in would be all Ryan Zook before a late race restart nearly stole it away from him.

Zook would be dominating throughout the 20-lap A-main before a caution with one lap to go set the field back up behind for a chance to steal the win on a night where Zook showed the way.

On the final restart of the night, Zook would lead the field around The Speed Palace, before he would get out of the groove in turn 3, allowing 2nd place running Gunnar Walls to make a pass for the lead to the inside. Zook would get his tires back underneath him, driving down the hill in turn 4 to get back in front of Walls by a nose before the two leading cars would make contact coming to the finish line, spinning them both around the run and collect many of the other finishing cars.

When the dust settled, it would be Zook who was credited with his 4th career Port Royal Speedway victory, though not in the fashion he would've liked.

Port Royal Speedway will be back in action on Saturday July 18th with Weikert's Livestock 410 sprint cars, 358 sprint cars, and Penns Valley Meat Market PA Sprint Series 305 sprint cars. The night will also serve as the Port Royal Speedway Ministries "Christmas in July" promotional event.
